The difference is that, unlike the yakitori joint, the <strong>SIMM Series<\/strong> is a spaceship that travels to other musical dimensions.<\/p>\n<p>An acoustic-centered sister of the Luggage Store Series, SIMM has brought the best cutting-edge acoustic jazz and avant-garde musicians in and out of the Bay Area to SF audiences and delivered one musical adventure after another. As the creative force behind boundary breaking group <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/grexsounds\"><strong><em>Grex<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, Evangelista has been called \u201cessential current-and-future listening, his music &#8220;a near-seamless blend of modern jazz, contemporary structuralist composition, indie rock, and blues rock\u201d (<em>Tiny Mix Tapes<\/em>). This complex, powerful aesthetic fosters an \u201cotherworldly experience\u201d that is \u201ccompletely original\u201d (<em>Eugene Weekly<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Karl has explored the possibilities of intercultural dialogues across a vast spectrum of academic and professional situations. Staiano<\/a>, and <strong><em>AIR<\/em><\/strong> co-founder <a href=\"http:\/\/www.asianimprov.org\/\">Francis Wong (\u738b\u4e16\u660e)<\/a>, and has performed in new arrangements of works by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfcm.edu\/faculty\/chessa.aspx\">Luciano Chessa<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/christianjendreiko\">Christian Jendreiko<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pollymoller.com\/\">Polly Moller<\/a>, <strong><em>AACM<\/em><\/strong> co-founder <a href=\"http:\/\/www.otherminds.org\/shtml\/Abrams.shtml\">Muhal Richard Abrams<\/a>, and <strong><em>Art Ensemble of Chicago<\/em><\/strong> co-founder <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allaboutjazz.com\/php\/article.php?id=1023\">Roscoe Mitchell<\/a>.
