A pioneer of blending voice samples and &#8220;found music&#8221; with wind instruments, Biggi has contributed a variety of other samples to these shows as well.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3501\" I never really know how to answer when people ask what type of music I play. I suppose it\u2019s rooted in jazz and folk and rock and soul, and then it\u2019s heavy on the improvisation, except when it\u2019s a composed piece. Oftentimes the music I make is totally improvised. Sometimes there\u2019s no music at all and it\u2019s just sound. And then again I\u2019ve been known to play a lot of acoustic, roots based music with other like-minded folks. Sometimes I\u2019ll accompany singers, songwriters, poets and dancers. From time to time I\u2019ll also get chances to write music for films and other art projects. the Banff Center for the Arts in Alberta, Canada; in Spain with renowned Argentine composer\/pianist Guillermo <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariahwilkins.com\/klein\/bio.html\">Klein<\/a>; and with mentors such as John <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnscofield.com\">Scofield<\/a>, John <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnabercrombie.com\/index_ecm.html\">Abercrombie<\/a> and Ben <a href=\"http:\/\/www.benmonder.com\">Monder<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ila has toured and played internationally, as both a band member &#8211; w Aaron <a href=\"http:\/\/aaronparks.com\">Parks<\/a>, Steve <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stevecardenasmusic.com\/index.php\">Cardenas<\/a>, Reid <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomajazz.com\/perfiles\/anderson_reid_english_version.htm\">Anderson<\/a>, Les <strong>Paul<\/strong>, and others &#8211; and leader, throughout the US &amp; Spain. Her first CD, <strong><em>Mother Nebula<\/em><\/strong> (Fresh Sound Records), was released in 2006, and she&#8217;s composed music for the award-winning films <strong><em>Horizons<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Blast<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Although grounded in jazz, Ila&#8217;s music and playing challenges our contemporary categories of music. He&#8217;s performed in Europe at the Festival d&#8217;Automne in Paris, Akademie der K\u00fcnste in Berlin, STEIM in Amsterdam, and Fylkingen in Stockholm among other places.
