performed original music for theater and played guitar, keyboards, bass, vibraphone and drums on the occasional rock session. He has studied guitar and theory with Morris Acevedo and John Schott.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The press on Nathan:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A fascinating composer. Long-form, dreamy, sectional without being rigid, and bluesy \u2014 albeit in a non-traditional way.\u201d\u00a0&#8211; Rachel Swan, \u00a0<strong><em>East Bay Express<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Clevenger\u2019s writing takes a lot from the swing era, but it\u2019s packed with odd time signatures, twisty compositions, and passages of improvisation that go well beyond the old concept of a solo.\u00a0You don\u2019t get the breakneck tempos of bebop, but neither is the music frozen in the \u201940s; the writing is fresh, and the musicians are given free rein to turn things upside-down.
