Kaars, PeterBKaars.com)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>He&#8217;s principal percussionist with the <a href=\"http:\/\/sfcmp.org\"><strong>San Francisco Contemporary Music Players<\/strong><\/a>, he&#8217;s been closely associated with NYC composer John <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tzadik.com\">Zorn<\/a>, &amp; has made numerous recordings, and performed in many projects throughout the world, with the composer. Starting in 1995 he&#8217;s been the percussionist with the avant-rock band <a href=\"http:\/\/mrbungle.com\"><strong>Mr. Bungle<\/strong><\/a>, has made two recordings (<strong><em>Disco Volante<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>California<\/em><\/strong> on Warner Brothers), and has toured throughout the world with this group. For many years he had worked with composer Lou <strong>Harrison<\/strong>, recording and premiering many of his works, and in March of 1997 he participated in the world premiere of Lou <strong>Harrison&#8217;s<\/strong> quintet <strong><em>Rhymes With Silver<\/em><\/strong> featuring cellist Yo-Yo <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yo-yoma.com\">Ma<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.yo-yoma.com\">\u99ac<\/a>\u53cb\u53cb) and the <a href=\"http:\/\/markmorrisdancegroup.org\"><strong>Mark Morris Dance Group<\/strong><\/a>, and has toured the piece throughout the United States and Great Britain. In 1999 he produced a recording of music by 20th-century avant-garde composers with the influential rock band <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sonicyouth.com\"><strong>Sonic Youth<\/strong><\/a>:\u00a0<strong><em>Goodbye 20th-Century<\/em><\/strong> (SYR4), which was hailed by both The <em>LA Times<\/em> and <em>Village Voice<\/em> as one of the best compendiums of this type of music ever recorded. More recently his recording with cellist Joan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jjcello.com\">Jeanrenaud<\/a> of her CD <strong><em>Strange Toys<\/em><\/strong> was nominated for a grammy in 2009.
